Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment and this will we do, if God permit. Hebrews 6:1-3

Our new life in Christ is a path of ongoing growth, and personal development. As new believers we have opportunities to mature and enjoy the grace of God at different levels. The author of Hebrews makes a  reference to a list of teachings that Christ cemented during his ministry, he then proceeds to say that though these teaching are important, they are only the foundation or beginning of our walk.
