Today’s verse is found in Matthew 7:7
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.”
In this scripture, Jesus says that we must ask in order to receive. Many times we read this and are encouraged to continue believing in our miracle. This is great, we should bring our petitions to the Lord because He hears us.
However, I encourage you to take this scripture as a reason to also pray for others. Sometimes our own requests will take up all of our prayer time. It’s easy to knock on the doors that we want to be opened for us but we find it difficult to plead for the requests of our neighbors. I challenge you to pray a selfless prayer today. If you need healing in your body, pray for healing in your brother or sister, if you are in need of a financial blessing, pray for your neighbor to be blessed, if you need help in your business, pray for somebody else’s business to flourish. As our heavenly father, how proud would it make the Lord to see His children pleading for each other’s miracle selflessly? I strongly believe that He would incline His ear to us even more! It’s easy to seek for what we want and to pray for our own desires but when we spend our prayer time pleading for others, it reflects TRUE LOVE, PURE LOVE, and GENUINE LOVE. Dare to intentionally pray for somebody else today, next time you fast, let your focus be somebody else’s prayer petition instead of your own.
