Routinely, we attend church already having expectations of how the service will play out because we’re so used to it having the same order each week. We know we will see a few people singing in a low tone, some clapping here and there, some will slightly lift their hands, etc… We tend to place worship into these 3 categories and many people never discover that there are endless ways to give praise to our Lord.I want to ask:

1. How do you worship in the house of God?
2. Do you stand out or do you blend in?
3. Do you ever limit your form of worship so that you do not stand out or so that you do not change the “order” of the service?

If your answer is yes, you are not alone! I personally have done that many times and I know many people that can also admit to putting limits on their form of worship in order to not be judged or seen.However, the true question is, what’s so humiliating about giving praise to our Heavenly Father? Why has the church allowed that Michal-like mindset inside? Michal was King David’s wife, and she harshly judged and humiliated him because of the way that he danced before the presence of God. King David was unbothered by her comments and did not change his worship. In other words, he did not care so why do we?Today’s scripture is found in Psalm 150

Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet;

Praise Him with the lute and harp!

Praise Him with the timbrel and dance;

Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes!

Praise Him with loud cymbals;

Praise Him with clashing cymbals!

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.

Psalm 150 is one of my favorite Psalms! As we see in these verses we get a description of how intentional we ought to be when we come to His house. I challenge you to be intentional in your praise and worship, don’t be embarrassed to lift your hands a little higher, to shout a little louder, or to dance before His presence. Break out of the mold and be more intentional in your praise because the Lord’s face shines upon those who cheerfully seek Him. Dare to move and remember, praising God is not even limited to Psalm 150, there are endless ways to praise the Lord. Don’t hold back when giving thanks to your redeemer!
